ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge – Royal Mile

The location was perfect, central to so many sights, tours, shops, bodegas, food, and drink. We arrived by train from Glasgow and left by tram to the airport; the 15-minute walks with our suitcases to transportation points were not difficult. If you arrive/depart via Edinburgh Waverly Train Station, or want to take the (direct) tram at St. Andrews Square to/from the Edinburgh Airport, recommend you use this route between those points and the Ibis, as a valley separates Old Town and New Town Edinburgh that makes the city inclines a little steep: The Ibis sits on South Bridge Street; a bridge connects Old Town (South) and New Town (North). The bridge is beside the train station and foot traffic is allowed. Exit the train station on Princes Street and turn right to walk across the bridge to reach the Ibis. The tram at St. Andrews Square is a block up from the train station, on the New Town side. The storefront of the hotel is misleading; it's quite a large, nicely-appointed hotel. The bar-restaurant provides good draft beers and food and opens onto a private terrace. Our room was very clean and comfortable. You can reach a Costa Coffee from the hotel stairwell without going onto the street. The reception, bar-restaurant, and housekeeping staff were all so kind and efficient and helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Location was perfect! Also the bed was very comfortable, we had very good night sleep after a long journey (it is very rare for us to have good sleep in hotels). Room was clean and well equipped. Staff was nice and very helpful. Price was great for the room we got. If we will visit Edinburgh again,we would definitely choose Ibis again.:)

The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from the Waverley train station and the university. It's in a nice neighborhood with plenty of options for food. It was very easy to walk around the city from here. The hotel was quiet although very busy. The staff was lovely and very helpful. We had a double room with two twin beds and plenty of space to move around and store our luggage. The bathroom and shower were a nice size. There was a counter top running under the window across the width of the room which provided more space for our toiletries, etc. The room seemed a good value for the location in mid-July.

The location was great, just at the heart of the Old Town. Breakfast was varied with a lot of options from vegetables, fruit, bread and cereal, to cooked meals such as sausage, eggs, beans, haggis - which were very comforting especially for rainy and grey days. Great decoration at the restaurant/bar as well, which felt very welcoming. The room was very comfortable. Staff was welcoming, and both the check-in and check-out were very quick.

This was a nice hotel located within walking distance of Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and the Grassmarket. The room was clean with comfortable beds and pillows (not super fluffy)! The breakfast was good, with the perfect chance to try Haggis (don't google what it is, just try it first). The staff was welcoming and helpful.
